What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is a method of delivering audio or video content to your computer and/or portable media player.

By subscribing to a podcast, you can automatically receive new episodes or updates and enjoy them whenever or wherever you choose.

What do I need to subscribe?

The basic requirements to receive podcast content are a computer and podcasting software (e.g., iTunes) or access to one of the numerous Web-based "RSS aggregators" such as Bloglines, Yahoo!, or Netvibes.

It is NOT necessary to own an iPod or other portable media player to enjoy podcasts!

UWTV offers several podcast subscription options that deliver both audio (MP3) and video (MPEG-4) formats —

Series Podcasts

Do you have a favorite UWTV series? Subscribe to its podcast and catch every new episode! Simply look for the links labeled "Subscribe to the series Podcast" on a series or program page.

Note: While a rapidly growing number of UWTV series are available as podcasts, most programs published on our website prior to December 2006 are currently not available.

Subject Podcasts
Subscribing to our Subject Podcasts will provide you with the latest programs on your favorite topic.

UWTV Premieres Podcast

For avid UWTV fans and other lifelong learners, the UWTV Premieres Podcast offers ALL of our new programming straight to your desktop.

UWTV does not endorse any particular podcast client, however due to its pervasiveness we do offer links for iTunes users (indicated by the icon) to easily subscribe to our feeds (other software might require you to copy and paste the RSS URL directly into the client) Other popular clients include iPodder, FireAnt and Doppler. Standard RSS Readers such as freely-downloadable Pluck, SharpReader (both for Windows) and NetNewsWire (Mac) can also display our podcasts.

Additionally, some web browsers, such as Firefox, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer 7 have RSS capabilities built in. Check with your browser's documentation to see how to subscribe to Podcast/RSS feeds.

Absolutely. Generally speaking, web-based aggregators are relatively easy to set up and allow you to access podcasts from any networked computer,PDA or web-enabled phone (if an appropriate media player is also installed). Bloglines and the RSS module of MyYahoo! are examples of free providers. UWTV does not endorse any particular aggregator. Check the RSS aggregator's documentation to learn how to subscribe to a Podcast/RSS feed.
