Sugar Plums and Vinegar: Childhood (Maurice Sendak)
Author and illustrator Maurice Sendak isn’t afraid to show the darker side of childhood. Find out what inspired his book “Where the Wild Things Are” and what made the story so groundbreaking. In this 1991 interview from the University of Washington, Upon Reflection host Marcia Alvar also asks Sendak about other projects, including how the original E.T.A. Hoffman story influenced his design work for the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker.”
